I saw "The Lives of Others" about a month ago and decided that it was probably the best movie I've seen in the last five years. The only depressing thing is that less than a dozen people were in the (afternoon) audience, while I'm sure the Hollywood movies are packing 'em in. More people should see quality films like this one. And in this case it's also an instructive reminder of what it was like to live in a totalitarian society.
