I have a 3-week, multi-city vacation coming up very soon. June 7th I'm heading for Lithuania, and I'll stay there for a week. This trip will be different from similar ones I took over the last few years in that my parents won't be there. They'll be in Paris, where I'll join them a week later, to spend 10 days together.
The reason for this strange timing is that I want to make it to a science fiction fandom camp in Lithuania the second weekend of June. I went last year, and liked it a lot. I blogged about it
in this series of blog posts.
It looks like I'll spend my 40th birthday in my hometown. If there is any symbolism to that, it's unintended and I'm not even sure it's positive. :-) It just worked out that way. We'll have a small party with my siblings, their spouses and children (one of who was born since my last visit, and I'm definitely looking forward to meeting him!)
I would love to meet with my friends from Lithuanian blogosphere and Facebook. But given how little time I have, it may not be possible to coordinate a meeting with a large group of people.
Finally, on my way back from Paris, I'll stop by in Houston for ApolloCon, a science fiction convention. Since my flight from Paris went through Houston anyway, I thought it would be a shame not to stay for ApolloCon. So now I have to finish not just one, but two stories I'm writing: one for the ApolloCon writers' workshop, and the other for ArmadilloCon! That's two deadlines, in 10 and 30 days correspondingly. In other words, I'm doing what I can to have the least relaxing vacation possible. :-)
