My dear unconscious mind:

I have almost finished the article on post-cyberpunk. All that remains is to find Lithuanian equivalents of some English technical-related terms. Such as HDTV, bucky tube, or "to sequence a genome". Typically what I do is I ask my friends, the co-publishers of the fanzine, who live in Lithuania. They often have suggestions. If nobody knows the exact equivalent of a specific term, then I assume it's kind of safe to make up my own. :-)

My unconscious, are you listening? If, as some people would say, you've been refusing to release the baby for fear that I might not finish my obligations -- well, I'm finished now. You have no reason to hold on to the baby any longer. By the way, I don't believe that unconscious beliefs can have such an influence on the body, but I know a lot of people who would say it's my mind that's doing this to me. So this is a preemptive strike. :-)

Today I had a doctor's appointment and she said my bag of waters is "bulging" and it may still break on its own before the scheduled induction date, May 4. Although I somehow believe less and less that the labor will start on its own. The doctor scheduled my induction as far back as the 39th week of pregnancy. I was still one week short of due date, still thinking I was within normal margins. When she suggested to induce, I suddenly felt as if a software release date has just been pushed forward and I was now being held responsible for not delivering the product on time and under budget. :-) Heh heh.

From what I've read about pregnancy, only 10% of pregnancies last past 41 weeks. I sometimes wonder about these numbers, because I knew 2 people in the last year whose pregnancies lasted 10 days past the due date (and then they were induced), and one who delivered 13 days past the due date. Of course, it could be just a statistical blip. Also, my mom just told me I was born 13 days overdue, and my brother 14 days. I wonder if I inherited the trend. (Both me and my brother were perfectly normal, by the way.)
