So everything is coming together for my application to University of Arizona. I am supposed to pick up my recommendation letters tomorrow. I just finished my personal statement, and filled out my cover sheet. All I need to do now is fill out the acctual application form and print out another copy of Bridle to send as my writing sample.

If you want, you can read my personal statement that I'm sending to UofA about why I want to pursue studying writing

I want to be a writer. To me the pen is mightier than any other instrument available, and to pursue a career in writing is my dream and goal in life and becoming a student in the Master of Fine Arts fiction program is a step in the correct direction.
I am searching out a community which would be conducive to productive, if not prolific, writing. Being a part of a community of writers would allow a free and open exchange of ideas and critique. I desire a community that thrives on a free exchange such as this, on that is supportive of each member and not one that encourages competition among its members. When I participated in National Novel Writing Month in November of 2004 I was one of 42,000 people world wide attempting the feat of writing a 50,000 word novel in thirty days. To feel the support of so many other people trying to create and accomplish this seemingly immense goal was so much more contributive to writing than any amount of support I would have received from any non-writer.
The writing life is the most important thing to me, setting aside time each day to write is just as important. Being able to focus on the story, the plot, the people in the story, and editing to make all of those elements flow together seamlessly is something I’ve always wanted to achieve yet feel that I still fall short of. Studying writing will help me to better focus on these elements.

Any comments are, as always, appreciated and taken into consideration.
