the in and out of contemplation
it has been way too long since i have updated this thing. i guess i have just been content enough writing in my personal journal i never want to repeat myself on here. but here i am and here it goes.
these last few weeks have been a mix of really good and really bad stuff happening to me. starting with the good stuff. the band is back and going strong. we had a gig in west virginia that we were going to play but it ended up getting cancelled at the last moment as we were about to get on the bus because of inclement weather. it has been rescheduled for two weeks from now. it should be a nice gig we'll be getting paid a good bit and maybe we will be able to finally get the subs we have been looking at for awhile. looks like its gonna cost us upwards of $2000 to buy them and until we can get some more money from our gigs we have no choice but to wait on them. i got some really good news the other day and that's that we may be getting signed! yay! the guy in charge of island def jam recording group records, which is the label for the likes of hoobastank and p.o.d., heard our songs off the website about a month ago and wanted to hear more of our stuff. so, we decided to finally finish recording two songs that had been put on the shelf and sent them to him. apparently he really liked it and as far as i know from our keyboardist (who has been the main link to this guy) he's setting up a contract with us. of course that is awesome but we will still need to go hrough so legal work and have our lawyer look at the contract to make sure everything is legit and good. still, the possibility of getting on a label and finally being able to put out record is a dream come true for all of us. well, almost all of us but that is another story for another time.
other than that the job is going well. i'm finally making headway on my project adn maybe when i finally get this thing finished i will get my raise i have been longing for.
now, on to the bad stuff. first i found out a little over a month ago that one of my friends who was battling with cancer finally succumbed to it. she died on jan 9th. please keep her family in your prayers that they will be able to make it through this tough time. i know what it is like to lose a family member but i can't imagine having to go through all that they did to finally lose the fight.
also on this subject, my sister was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst a few years ago and has it subsequently removed. well, we found out a few weeks ago that the cancer has come back and had invaded her liver and part of her rear ribcage. she went under the knife and she is now recovering. the doctors say that she will be fin but she will have to go through chemotherapy to make sure that it doesn't come back again. i just ask that you please pray for her and all of us that have to go through it with her. it has been and still will be a tough time for all of us.
and lastly. regretfully my relationship with my girlfriend ended last week. after almost 5 months of dating it ended. i don't have much to say about it but i hope that she is doing well and she is not too incredibly pissed at me.
