Yesterday I headed down south to the South Chicago Shore area, which is quite a beautiful area of Chicago, especially in terms of architecture. I haven't really been motivated to carry my SLR, but I did take some photos on my compact camera.

There's a number of dusty second-hand bookshops in the area around the University. At the back of this bookshop, a robed lady is transcribing a manuscript. Perhaps the photocopier is broken.
As a side note, something I have generally noticed in Chicago is that all of the bookshops carry a lot more books about social sciences - especially history and sociology - than typical bookshops I have encountered elsewhere. It's a city that is very ethnically diverse, and perhaps this contributes to the academic interest in various social matters.
