Following up from yesterday's entry, tonight I successfully executed my first Telecaster string change (go me!).
I switched from the factory-installed Fender 0.009"-0.042" to D'Addario 0.009"-0.046" strings. The high three strings are the same thickness as before (0.009"/0.011"/0.016") but the low three are slightly heavier (0.026"/0.036"/0.046" vs 0.024"/0.032"/0.042"). I'm liking that and I'll probably go a step heavier on the high strings as well next time. I also brought my pickups a little closer to the strings.
The result sounds great. But then I guess anything sounds better than nine-month-old strings. :)
