Yes, meant to share with everyone, and even especially designed so you can read them and mean them when you say "I...." :D I hope these can keep me positive when I become negative, and help to improve any future problems I might have; though right now I think we're golden, it's still helpful to have on hand, right?
1. Do things because I want to do them, not because I think they will please my partner. Demanding gold stars won't get you any....
2. I have to keep my temper in check and make sure not to snap at anyone. If I am snappy, just apologize and don't make excuses.
3. Always show consideration to my partner, such as give my partner all of my attention when on the phone/on Skype (etc.) unless otherwise agreed, give my partner warm welcomes and goodbyes, etc.
4. Make sure to lose track of points; score-keeping is not attractive and harmful. Score-keeping in this case being "Well I did the dishes, took out the trash, and dusted and all ze did was lay around all day." Remind myself of all the things I don't do to stay humble.
Quote: "According to Jonathan Haidt’s The Happiness Hypothesis, 'when husbands and wives estimate the percentage of housework each does, their estimates total more than 120 percent.'”
5. Remind myself of all the amazing things my partner is and can do instead of thinking of all the things my partner is not or can't do. To simply remind myself of this, kiss more, hug more, and touch more, which helps to keep me positive, reminds me to not take my partner for granted and appreciate ze's values and attributes, and allows me to forget petty annoyances.
