Well it has been about a week since I last updated. Alot has happened. The Iraqi's used a VIED (Vehicle Improvised Explosive Device [car bomb]) and mortars to take doen the ING headquarters building. ING = Iraqi National Guard (formerly the ICDC or Iraqi Civil Defence Corps. There were about 18 soldiers injured in the attack and five deceased. It made the front page of the Stars and Stripes the very next day. I had to go down to the hospital and process casualty reports on them. Everything is going ok here, atleast for me. We had a suicide not to long ago. A Soldier who had reciently recieved an Article 15 and reciently got Divorced went into a Porta potty and shot himself in the head. He was not from my unit but a unit real close to mine. They say that he was on extra duty and the NCO's in his unit were riding him pretty hard. That very day we had to recieve a mandatory Suicide prevention class. I feel sorry for him and his family and it is a tragety that he could not be helped in time. I do not know the full story about what happened so I cannot make any judgement calls, but it is stressful enough here without making it even more so. I have been taking advantage of the VTC calls and so far have gone every Friday for the past month (except the one where I was at lake Dokan). My mother is doing well and the second piece of her tounge came out negative for cancerous cells. She will have to keep going in for tests over the next year but so far it looks like they have removed all of the cancer. I have not hear anything new about my sisters Diabeties and I hope that means she is doing well. Well it is really hot here, about 120 everyday, but so far not in the 140's yet like they said it would be. I had better get back to work now. i will write more as soon as I get the change.
