It's a far less prominent holiday in Japan, though I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. At least the sentiment of the season seems universal, and that's what matters~.
You should see it in America sometime; I swear it's like they'll never get another chance to decorate and they're getting it in before it's too late. I have nothing against the sentiment, but unless I'm very much mistaken, it doesn't involve going blind.
