Easter/Ostara

I’m sure there will be many, many moments in the coming years that I’ll reflect on the changes that having a baby has made to my point of view. For a long time I’ve wanted to settle into some sort of rhythm for holiday celebrations, but having a kid makes it feel more important. A couple years ago I celebrated Easter at my dad’s place and I had a wonderful time cooking my grandmother’s recipes with my mother, step-mother and niece. I want to dye eggs with my son like I did with my father.

My next life project: collect my family traditions and recipes for this year… Ostara lands on March 20th, but our shortest day here in Seattle is the 17th. So, Saturday, March 15th looks like a good day to celebrate and Friday night we will all get together and cook and dye eggs.
