The new year brought in an old adversary that I thought I had overcome... Bronchitis...
I tried taking care of it by just dosing up on vitamins, using DayQuil during the daytime, and dosing up on NyQuil at night to get some sleep... That just wasn't cutting it, as on Friday morning, I was in cold sweats badly, and pretty damn dis-oriented (not to mention that breathing was DIFFICULT to say the least)
So, I finally broke down and made a doctor's appointment. I went to go see the doc, and he gave me two prescriptions to fight this off. An anti-biotic, Levaquin (I'm SOOOOOO glad that my workplace decided to pick-up prescription coverage for us... That would have been $100 for SEVEN LOUSY PILLS without Rx coverage), and an inhaler, Advair (which would have cost me over $200 without Rx coverage).
The Advair came with a nasty little surprise... 30 minutes after taking the first dose, I go to blow my nose (which has been running like a motha-trucker since new year's), and I feel something dripping from my nose after blowing it... I though I was merely dripping snot all over myself AGAIN, but nope, it was a nasty little stream of blood coming from my nose.. Thankfully, the nosebleed was easy to take care of, but not so pleasant none-the-less...
Then the other surpirse... I dunno if they load up that Advair with crystal meth or what, but I can't seem to get any sleep when I'm taking it... I stayed up last night until 4:30am (finally crashing out after being up for over 20 hours), then woke up wide awake at 8:30am. I'm still not even remotely tired, and I haven't even taken my second dose for the day!
What happened to the good 'ol days growing up when the doctor would give me Phenagrine (sp?) with Codiene in a cough syrup... That worked GREAT (and was a pretty damn good time too... ;-). And I can honestly say that I never got a nosebleed or wicked insomnia from that...
I just don't trust these new pharmaceuticals... I think that the FDA is asleep at the wheel when approving these new drugs... I NEVER had any issues with the old school prescriptions, I'm running into a good few newer ones that don't sit well with me... NASTY side-effects...
I think from now on I'm going to INSIST on the older meds... This new shit just freaks me out...
