it still could happen/anyways

somewhere a couple of months ago i realized that i don't really care for blogging. there may have been a time when it was fun and i felt free to express myself publicly, but now i'm finding it hard to summon up that energy. maybe i stopped trusting the world wide web.

but it has been a while, and i find myself with some extra time on my hands, so let's play catch up!

so here's a secret for y'all: i withdrew from classes at Stanford this past autumn and decided to move on to other things. what other things?! i dunno. a job. what job? dunno. all i know is that i put in a good effort and it wasn't working and it wasn't worth sickening myself over. SO, so much for all of that. who knows, maybe in a couple of years i'll find the energy to finish my last year somewhere else.

the holiday season was a lot more interesting than it originally was supposed to be. at the last possible minute, edwin and i decided to join a friend on a road trip to Mexico. our friend's brother was scheduled to be married in the city of Cuernavaca on the 29th of December. We left the Saturday prior to Christmas, beginning the long, long, long drive south. Our friend's mother wanted to spend Christmas in the village where she was raised, which was somewhere near Guanajato, Mexico. On Christmas day, the village threw a big fiesta with a live band and plenty of booths and carnival rides. Tequila was the drink of the night, and it could be said it was the drink responsible for one of the more memorable Christmas mishaps of my life.

but my fun with tequila didn't stop there...no, no, no. at the wedding reception later that week, a bottle graced every table and each place setting was flourished with a shot glass. without revealing too much, let me say i had more fun than i could possibly handle (at one point i peed in my pants, but that's a story i won't say much about).

we did manage to spend a couple of hours in Mexico City one Sunday afternoon, but aside from seeing the center of the city, we missed out on seeing some of the more touristy places since everything closed down early for the day.

for new years, the wedding party and family rented a bus to transport everybody to Puerto Escondido. it was humid/hot, but with plenty of beautiful sun, warm water, beautiful tourists, and overall it was an absolutely perfect spot for a winter vacation. it also was the furthest south on the globe that i've ever been. unfortunately i got sunburned early on during the stay, which then forced me to limit my beach time the subsequent days before our departure.

never in my life had i done so much driving! my ass was begging for relief from being crammed into car seat after car seat. i swear it'll take several months to regain my natural butt curves.

now let's flip the switch!

for anybody who cares and likes music, edwin's radio show now airs on friday evenings from 5-9pm. you can tune in at KZSU 90.1 fm, or stream on-line live by going to http://kzsu.stanford.edu. he plays a lot of fun things and generally takes requests, so feel free to call in if you're ever tuned in.

and to wrap things up...can anybody explain to me how i can fix the settings on my livejournal account so that i can include images into my blogs? i have a friend who does a daily picture on his blog, and i kind of wanted to implement that into my own updates since i don't seem to feel like writing much.

until next time,

FIGHT THE FLIGHTS!
