Friends in another world

A week ago, JT suggested we head down to Manila for the Chinese New Year holiday.
I didn't really want to stick around during Chinese New Year, so I decided to try my luck in getting an SQ flight using my miles.
At the last minute, when the economy seats were still fully booked, all three of us (including our pal Nathan) chose to upgrade to Business Class since the Saver option was still available.

So, we were off to Manila for a short 4D3N unplanned trip.
It turned out really well.
The moment the plane touched down, I felt distinctly more relaxed.
I realised I did miss the place.
The people are great.
Many of our Filipino friends really missed Nathan. He was thus the best person to organize our gatherings.
We had two gatherings in quick succession. The first one was a simple pre-discoteque gathering at our place in Manansala (serviced apartments in Rockwell) on the evening immediately after we landed, while the second was a KTV night on Monday following.
About 25 people turned up at each gathering, which means almost everyone turned up.  There remains a handful of pals I would have loved to meet, but I guess there will always be next time.

I managed to get quiet personal time with several of my pals and was updated on their lives, loves and challenges. I made a few new friends who are likely to remain in my expanding family of friends in the Philippines.

Who knows, I might even be going down more often if work in the FengShui area picks up !

Thanks to all our Filipino pals who made us feel so loved.
Thanks especially to Jon Tac who drove us around, and to Russell who acted as such an informative guide!

Oh, and we never really got to party on Saturday night. The group ended up chatting all the way till 4am in the morning!
I didn't really understand what they were saying given my almost non-existant Tagalog knowledge, but the joy from their laughter was enough to make me happy.

TIll next time
8-)
