It has been quite a weekend.
Saturday morning 0930hrs.
1100hrs would be a more normal wake up time for me on a Saturday morning.
However, I had agreed to be one of four judges for the Final Round of CFA Singapore's University Investment Research Competition, so staying in bed was not to be this fateful Saturday.
By 1.45pm, when the event ended, I was suffering a major headache.
After reviewing 8 reports averaging 20 pages each and sitting through 2 1/5 hours of presentations and Q&As of varying standards, I was really looking forward to my bed. I simply didn't get enough sleep the night before.
I headed for the lift immediately after the prize presentation ceremony, but not before being waylaid by the CFA President who wanted me to help train the winners so as to improve their chances at the coming Pan-Asian leg of the competition.
I tactfully avoided agreeing to this immediately, but we shall see.
Saturday 1420hrs
The MRT ride to Somerset was smooth and I raced for home at an uncharacteristically fast pace. As the lift door opened at my apartment, I heard thunder in the background a torrential downpour started. Serendipity.
Saturday 1630hrs
Checked into Siloso Beach Resorts for the night. Straight into bed before the Zoukout party later.
Sunday 0020hrs
Zoukout 2008. The crowd control was pretty good. There were three music venue choices this year and we mostly stayed with our friends at one venue throughout the night. A brief trip to the Mambo venue was, well, brief. Reliving the past amongst an almost teenage crowd no longer holds the same appeal for me these days.
I left my friends and walked around the grounds of the place. While there was definitely a noticeable international presence, I sensed that the crowd this year was smaller compared to previous years.
The global crisis must be have had a significant effect.
Sunday 0330hrs
I was done for the night. I'd already said "hi" to all the friends I believe were there and had enough dancing for the night. The two cans of beer (zero % alcohol) was also giving me an uncomfortable throbbing to my head.
Sunday 0900hrs
Woke up to enjoy the breakfast at the hotel. Frankly, I don't really think the breakfast buffet is worth the S$20 tab. Fortunately, it came complimentary with the room. Perhaps the rest felt the tasty Laksa was worth the price. I seriously doubt it. Siloso Beach seriously needs a refurbishment. The rooms have a dank smell caused by excessive moisture seepage into the fabric of the sofas and on the walls of the room. It can't last much longer. The room doors do not close readily and need to be pushed hard to make sure they lock shut. The shower door creeks against the bathroom floor.
Sunday 1145hrs
I had checked out and drove home to unpack and pack up again for gym.
Sunday 1250hrs
I made it to Raffles Cali gym, all set for two hours of dance class. I didn't count of the rather challenging Hip Hop routine that the instructor had put together. Worst, he rushed through the first three-eights since almost everyone else had done the routine before.
I was left in the dust trying my best to catch up.
Sunday 1720hrs
Back at home, typing up this journal entry.
I really should be resting but its still the weekend.
While my legs are ready to give out from all that dancing, my mind is still overly hyperactive...
Hmmm....
