Greetings:
Well I know it has been a long time between updates. We did the Christmas in April thing, and I went to Malice Domestic Conference in D.C. in May, which is always cool and went to the Beach in July it was wonderful Carole from Northern Ireland brought her sweety Steven for us to meet, he is a very nice guy and they make a good couple. Warren and Gemma also from Northern Ireland were there (Warren is currently living and working in North Carolina)my son Jason was there and my son Ben was there and brought Alison with him (Alison is 4) she is now Ben's stepdaughter. Katie couldn't come she had to work. We all had a wonderful Time at the beach, of course Frank, Diane, Courtney, Jay and Chris from Virginia were all there as well. The biggest and most current news is that Ben and Katie got married!!!!!
The Wedding was October 27th, and it was beautiful. There were issues leading up to the wedding, the Brides mom wanted things one way and Ben and Katie wanted them another, and well you know how things can get, and believe me they got... The Bride was beautiful in her white gown with red trim, the bridesmaids were beautiful in there red and cream gowns. The Groom and groomsmen were handsome in wonderful black tuxes with white shirts and red vests and ties. The Grooms father (my hubby) looked handsome in his tux he had a black vest though, The brides father looked wonderful in his tux coat and Kilt, the brides mom and I both wore Black and white gowns and I think that we both looked very nice. The bride came down the aisle to a bagpipe song it was real very nice. after the wedding the wedding party filed out and the Bride and Groom came back in and dismissed each aisle personally and were able to greet and thank all their guests there in the church, instead of a receiving line and the guests filed out past the rest of the bridal part and could greet us then on their way out, it worked out real well. The reception was only a block and a half from the church and parking was limited so guests were encouraged to walk to the reception. The reception was held in the Firefighters Museum When we got there it was beautiful everything done in red and white the cake was also beautiful. The reception was alcohol free, there were insurance issues etc. if you were going to have alcohol in the museum. anyway, the food was very good and the DJ was fine. We did have an issue when the brides sister, cousin (who were the maid of honor and a bridesmaid)her aunts, cousins etc. and her parents all left the reception to go to the bar. I was horrified, I have never in my life heard of anything like this, the Brides parents are to be some of the last people at the reception, needless to say when the other guests saw the brides family leave, they thought that the reception was over and they left shortly after. The fact that I think that this was tacky to say the least, was nothing compared to the look I saw on my new daughter-in-laws face. She was hurt to say the least, and my heart was breaking for her. When the caterer started asking Ron and I questions, we couldn't answer them because we were really not in on the planning, and those at the bar were not answering their cell phones. We did finally call the bar and had the bartender get them on the phone. When Ben and Katie got to the hotel they found that her sister had taken off with Katies overnight bag. So Katie had no clothes other then her wedding dress, the poor girl wouldn't even be able to come down for breakfast in the morning. So Ron and I (with Carole and Steven) went to Meijers (thank goodness they are open 24 hours) and bought Katie some clothes so she could come down to breakfast in the morning. But with the issues and adventures and all, They are Married and they seem quite happy. Well this ended up much longer then I intended. I guess I will have to try to update more often.
Hugs
