(although wouldn't put it past Ferguson to do another twenty!) Oh, wouldn't it be great if he could? I can't imagine a United team without Fergie at it's head. It's one of those things that seem unchangeable. He's put so much of himself into the team, it will be difficult for any new manager to impose his own ideas. And I wonder if we'll be satisfied with him, no matter how big a name it is.
Oh, so I guess you've been watching United for a long time, huh? I just started recently so I have no clue as to why so many people dislike him so much. I think it had to do with the fact that we went out of the CL in the group stages the season before last? I think many people blame him for that.
Yeah, Anderson has a long way to go. But I like what we've seen so far, with experience he could become one of the best in the world.
Yes, I agree that we're more comfortable in 4-4-2(well done with the addition!...jk) But a lot of it's effectiveness is down to who are playing in CM. With Scholes and Carrick it looks brilliant. When Hargreaves plays, not so much.
My essay is bigger than yours! :) And sorry for replying so late.
Oh I just wrote a lovely long comment & LJ ate it! Anyway, I said in a rather morbid manner that I doubted Ferguson would ever retire especially after what happened a few years ago, and that their next manager, to live up to him, would need to be someone pretty special who had a knowledge of the history of the club...basically I just want Keane to manage in fifteen or so years, maybe training as assistant first although I can't imagine that happening somehow...
& yeah my family&friends are all football maniacs -- my brother's named after Duncan Edwards & my sister was held aloft as the FA Cup of '99 hahaha -- but I only really got into it, as in watching every single match-replay-reserve-match & going to the odd game we can get tickets for etc. around a few years ago. Most United (& non-United) fans I know are suspicious of him, mainly for the formations.
I agree sometimes they need to switch to other formations for certain matches, but what can I say, I'm a 4-4-2 traditionalist!
Haha, & I'll put my bad addition down to typing skills...and illness. Yes.
I would love to see Keano too. I think he's probably the only one of ex-United players turned managers who've got the required charisma to handle United. No, but he would never agree to be an assistant. Maybe he can manage some other club like Newcastle or something, to get the experience. If he can handle Newcastle, I reckon he'd be fine with us!
Oh cool! So you live in Manchester? And I suppose you must have been to OT? What's it like? I would love to get a chance to go there! It must be brilliant to be able to see the boys live!
It's happened so many times I've actually learnt to copy&paste any comments...bad LJ!
My thoughts exactly! & there'll always be a premiership club who needs management, what with their tendency to sack people after a few months...poor Martin Jol :(
& though my dad used to live in Manchester (Stone Ages, natch), but I've only been up there the odd time to see a game, and as you'd expect it's completely brilliant. I made an idiot of myself the first time by asking where the away fans were (it was changed cause it was a cup match, haha) and a few times we've got pretty bad views, but usually it's amazing! Best bit is when they all walk out the tunnel, or going up through the little stone bit to your seat and the stadium opens out all huge, or when someone scores, obvi. Do you live abroad, then?
Ha, same with me! If I write a really long comment, I copy it before posting it, just in case! Better safe than sorry!
Yeah, I feel sad for all the managers who get sacked, right from Jol to Big Sam, to Jose. I think they should be given some more time to get things right. But, I guess fans aren't patient enough.
Wow, it sounds incredible! Yeah, I live in India, which is halfway across the world! Pretty much impossible for me to come see them live, unless I get a really good job or something, and my employer doesn't mind me taking a week off to watch football!
I didn't feel sorry so much for Big Sam in that he left Bolton for money & Newcastle paid him...but (I honestly thought I'd never say this) I do miss Jose. Although he played boring football, he was hilarious and quite easy on the eyes too, hahaha. & Alex Ferguson, when he started didn't win anything for a few years and was given time, and is now manager of one-of-if-not-the most successful club in the world, but I suppose now loads more money is riding on not getting relegated etc.
Awwh it's pretty hard to get tickets anyway, unless you're one of the lucky forty thousand or so who are season ticket holders. & with your boss, all depends who he/she supports ;)
& I just realised we're probably spamming up the poor person who originally posted this's inbox, if I'm being way annoying please do tell me! & sorry.
