Heavy As A Really Devy Thing

Jul 20, 2006 13:07

I make no secret of my love for Heavy Noise (tm). And quite probably highest in my list of adoration sits Strapping Young Lad.

A good chunk of that love is directed at the frontman, one Devin Townsend, who apparently was born the day after me, only seven years earlier. Go Team May! But I digress. Tangentially I wander. A man - a Canadian Man - Devy has sung for Steve Vai, produced some of the heaviest and angriest sounding music ive ever heard, had a God complex and come back to vague reality, spoken publicly about his love for jackin' it to porn, and reportedly been so angry and scream-y on tour for SYL's City album that he nearly had a brain aneurysm, and had to sit a spell in the quiet corner.

SYL came to Perth a few years ago, and it was one of the best nights I've ever had. A large part of that was because of the music and Devy being awesome, but the circumstances of the night also took it down a notch, then kicked it up three notches.

... O.K. the point is... They have a new album. and I'm excited. There's also an interview with Devy where he talks about touring for the album next year, and coming back to Australia. Picture me... excited like a puppy. Also... there's THIS. A clip from the new album. The song is 'Wrong Side', the album 'The New Black'.

That was a lot of text just to share a clip. About stuff that very few people will care aboot. AWESOME!
