Crampy and procrastinating

I'm in a cafe in New Orleans right now, finishing up a memo for the ACLU.

I can't believe my time at the ACLU is over. It was so wonderful. Not necessarily because of the work, which was definitely interesting. More because of the people. I loved every single one of my co-workers, interns and attorneys alike. We had *so much fun* in the intern den. There was always something to laugh about, and a few dozen people all around doing absolutely fascinating work. Always somebody to talk to about the latest terrible decision, or celebrate with when good decisions came down. I definitely made the right decision when I decided not to go to a firm this summer. Though my bank account might disagree.

New Orleans, by the way, is HOT. I thought I'd be prepared, but I wasn't. Not for this humidity.

It will be a relief to go to Guatemala tomorrow. In Guatemala, es el invierno. Va a llover todos los dias en Guatemala. The temperature is going to be in the forties at night and the seventies during the day. That will be *nice.*

Jael, one of my ACLU co-interns, gave me a nice long briefing about Guatemala's history over a long coffee break at Financier. I had no idea how recently the country was immersed in a human rights travesty of a civil war. It should be interesting seeing how the country is doing first-hand.

I'm kind of out of it, though - I don't really feel like I'm going to be down there by this time tomorrow. I haven't been practicing my Spanish enough at all.

Derrrrr.... I don't know how to end this post.

I have two mosquito bites. Mosquitos suck.
