RIP Caitlin Hammaren and all other victims at virginia tech

I can't even comprehend what happened at virginia tech.

I was at Penn State, making sure that was the school I wanted to go to. We get out of lunch and students are freaking out on their cell phones in front of the t.v. I immediately think of my friend Kristen, who goes there.

I call her asap and leave her a voicemail telling her to call me back asap to let me know she's ok.

She calls me back a couple hours later. She said she was on her way to class when she heard gun shots and the police told her to run as fast as she could across the field, which I'm guessing was off campus. She said it was complete chaos and she had to go because she had to find Caitlin, who also graduated from my school 2 years ago.

I find out this morning that Cailtin was one of the people shot dead.

How surreal is that?

Out of how many students, this girl whom I knew was killed.
She sat next to me my sophmore year in chorus. I didn't know her that well, but I did know her. I talked to her from time to time and she was an uh-mazing singer. I know enough about her that she was constantly smiling and constantly happy.

A lot of people were crying today. I felt kind of wrong to cry for someone who I didn't know really well, yet I still felt really depressed about the situation at whole, especially when I see pictures like this:

Its just so surreal when people you know die, especially in such a tragedy as this. You can do all the right things in life like this girl Caitlin, and you could be gone in the next second.
