That sounds so pretty...but we don't need pretty

This weekend has been a productive one. I'm trying to prepare myself for the next two weeks, which are going to be slightly busy. Formal is next weekend. Erin is coming and there is no hot-rod rally in Gatlinburg this time. I'm really looking forward to it.

Island Party was last week, and I'd say it was only marginally successful. It lasted way too long, and it was freezing cold. But there's always next year I suppose. I want to take much more of an involved role in planning and organizing next year. For all the faults of IP, I at least got to learn about some sweet new bands including Lorien, Poor Rich Folk, and Florez. All of them are amazing.

Last night I went to see Third Day and the David Crowder Band. Crowder rocked ridiculously hard. I want his guitar. It was awesome when they played Hank William's "I Saw the Light" and Marty Stuart came out in a freaking green trench coat and busted out this sick mandolin solo like it was nothing. They were great, but I wouldn't have expected anything less. Third Day was most impressive as well. Especially Mac Powell's voice. Good Lord it is so rich and pure its unreal. I must admit that even though I listen to more Christian music than most, Third Day has never really been that appealing to me. They are extremely old school Christian music, but sometimes I guess its good to get in touch with the roots of the music to see where it has come from. The highlight from them had to be their acoustic version of "Your Love, Oh Lord" into "Nothing but the Blood."

I can't believe how little time is left in this school year.
