House elections

Yay! I'm so excited! My house just elected me vice-president. Damn, I was surprised. Jordan, our RA, nominated me. Joe decided not to run for president this quarter because he was ready just to be a member of the house and not have to hustle anybody or be all bureaucratic. He said he wanted to be like Rusell Crowe in Gladiator on his way back home from the wars, running his hand over the wheat. He has been a good president. I miss him already. But wait! He's just over in section 5, you say. But I miss him leading the meetings. He was cheerful and wise and had a lot of love for everyone who had something to present. He never rolled his eyes in exasperation at even the lousiest or longest Jim Holland decree. Speaking of Jim Holland, he was the only other person who I ran against. Sam Friedman was also going to run, but he said instead, "If you trust my opinion on what's good for the house, you'll vote for Jim Holland." I wasn't really sure what he was trying to do. He was wearing a suit and probably could have been elected as president or VP if he had actually run since he's a fourth year.

My speech went something like, "blah blah blah...I guess it's me vs. Jim and, well, Sam...sort of...Okay, I'm flailing here, but damnit! I love living here. I agree with what Larry said that this is one of the greatest places to be, one of the greatest places to live. I love house meetings. I love getting up here and talking to you all. I promise if I'm elected, my speeches will be much more entertaining than this one has been." Yay, laughing and cheers. We went outside, they shut the door and voted, we came in and John said something like, "Congragulations to our new VP Miss Gilbert." Woo hoo. The house elections were really tame and fairly undramatic, except there were 10 candidates for at-large rep. Brian and Joe won. Corrigan was not re-elected secretary. I will really miss his minutes; he did a good job. Will is the new section rep. Shannon is IM sports. Not much else to say. Dammit. I guess I have to start my Calc homework now...

Oh yeah, I'm running the light board for David and Lisa. It's really easy. Amy, the stage manager, just says "Ready track 4...go." I press the little button, the train station noises come on, kapeesh. It's all good. Today, I acidentally let the train noises come on before the play started because I wasn't watching very closely.

You know what I want right now? Tofu. Our salad bar just got really good tofu. It's so smooth and so delicious. I've been thinking about tofu all night.
