Challenge 13 All Souls Night: Bockscar, the B-29 Bomber

One of my favorite real-life haunted places is also one of my favorite museums. The National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton Ohio is a truly amazing museum that is home to some planes with storied histories. And more than a few spirits.

One of my very favorite planes there is the B-29 Bomber known as Bockscar. He is the plane that dropped the bomb on Nagasaki.

There are quite a few hauntings connected with Bockscar. People report hearing screams around him, and a friend of mine says whenever he goes near the plane he sees burning Japanese children.

I will preface my comment with the fact that I tend to be empathic. Meaning I can sense the feelings of people and in some cases objects. With Bockscar, I somehow formed a bond. He was in a back corner of the museum and I always got the sense that he hated being there. There is a massive feeling of guilt around him, and he seemed as if he'd be happier alone in the middle of some field, rotting away. Whenever someone of asian decent would go near him, I could feel him pull away, like he was trying to shrink into nothing. But he was OK in his back corner because he could hide. When they rearranged the WW2 gallery, they moved him to a front corner and he hated hated hated his new spot, right out in the open. But they put a bench under his wing, so whenever I went, I would sit there for a while and just try to comfort him. I never saw or sensed any of the haunting folks mention that surround him, I just know that HE is very haunted by the guilt of what he did by dropping the bomb on Nagasaki.

I haven't seen my buddy in a while, but, I hope he's doing OK. <3
