I used to be such a sweet, sweet thing
Till they got a hold of me
I opened doors for little old ladies
I helped the blind to see
I got no friends 'cause they read the papers
They can't be seen with me
And I'm gettin' real shot down
And I'm feelin' mean
James Norrington, former Commodore, sat at a bar in a place he had never wished to be, Tortuga. Tortuga was a village of sin, a place only the lowliest creatures of society (pirates and whores) frequented. Once the most feared pirate hunter in the whole of the Caribbean, he was now nearly a pirate himself. He had become what he hated the most, and it was killing him. The once orderly and polite man was now a cold, hard, and lonely mess. A mere shadow of the fine man he had once been.
No more Mister Nice Guy
No more Mister Clean
No more Mister Nice Guy
They say he's sick, he's obscene
No one talked to him anymore. No one wanted to be anywhere near him. He smelled funny now, but even before that when he had still been a Navy commander, his men had avoided him. It got so bad after that hurricane that he was forced to leave. He was a mess now; a disgrace now.
I got no friends 'cause they read the papers
They can't be seen with me
And I'm feelin' real shot down
And I'm gettin' mean
He used to be kind, but now he was numb. Ever since he’d had his heart publicly broken, he had become a cruel and stubborn man that no one really liked associating with anymore. He had always been rigid and had avoided showing his feelings in public, but now it wasn’t that he hid them away, it was that he was basically inhuman and didn’t have any.
No more Mister Nice Guy
No more Mister Clean
No more Mister Nice Guy
They say he's sick, he's obscene
He had gotten so bad that even the scum of Tortuga avoided him. They started fights, and the bartenders refused to serve him. He had sunk so low as to start stealing to get anything to eat; it wasn’t that he didn’t have money, it was just that no one would talk to him and even they didn’t want his business. His old friends deserted him and the pirates of Tortuga only wished to get revenge on him for what he had done while he was in the Navy.
My dog bit me on the leg today
My cat clawed my eye
Mom's been thrown out of the social circles
And dad has to hide
I went to church incognito
When everybody rose the Reverend Smithy
He recognized me and punched me in the nose
Word of his disgrace had reached England and the gossip spread like wildfire. His family was shunned and wished only to disown him, but as he was away and the damage couldn’t be undone, there was nothing they could do. He knew none of this because the last time he had tried to show his face in Port Royal, he had been beaten up by a near mob of angry locals.
He said, no more Mister Nice Guy
No more Mister Clean
No more Mister Nice Guy
He said you're sick, you're obscene
Everyone hated him and he hated them back, but he hated himself the most. For what he had done and what he had become. He truly was the thing he hated the most; a pirate. He knew that this was all Jack Sparrow’s fault, and he vowed to get his revenge.
