Ehe. So, I painstakingly went through a good chunk of my WIP post and dragged out some things I thought salvageable and salvaged them in whatever way I could. I'll post them over the next coupla days, theoretically.
Look at all the work I do when I have essays looming!
What I don't like about this one is the abrupt change at the very end, but I couldn't think of some magical way to make it work better without putting at least a paragraph into italics and, stylistically, I hate doing that. Bah.

15pairings theme #01: once upon a time
Apparently, her brother was the wrong person to confide in.
He stands grumpily with his arms crossed and forbids her from seeing the boy she's in love with. He says it's for the good of the country, because a Princess and a foreign commoner would not be acceptable in the eyes of the people.
And she's sure he's right, though she knows her brother is biassed and hates the boy in question. But she also knows that Touya loves her and that he wouldn't hurt her so badly if he didn't need to. He has only her best interests at heart.
And for the first time, she wonders if her falling in love as she has truly is wrong.
It's Yukito who first approaches her after she runs from her brother's throne, placing a gentle hand on her head as her father used to do when she was upset. He doesn't address the issue directly, instead saying, Princess, let me tell you a story, and launching into a tale of once upon a time.
The story he spins is about a pair overcoming great adversity in order to be together. About finding a compromise between the demands of the mind and the demands of the heart. He tells her a tale about love finding a way and she's never felt more inspired.
When he finishes, he pats her head again and tells her never to give up on the things that she holds dear, even if the people important to her disapprove. She takes his advice to heart, and swears that she'll be with the boy she loves, somehow, someday.
And when the memory fades and she wakes from the feather's heavy sleep with tears in her eyes, Sakura refuses to tell Syaoran why it is she's crying. She's too ashamed to admit that she's forgotten the face of the boy she promised she would be with no matter what.
