I have been in NoVA this past weekend so I will catch you all up.. (And I didn't realize that I left AIM saying "Naptime").
Thursday morning I got up early to take Dad to
Rockingham Memorial Hospital for what he called "IV Therapy" before heading out to the Wine-Price Building (Pain Management section). Dad kept saying he was a hard stick and I was thinking stop saying that it sounds off.. But basically it's hard to find the veins, so we had to go to the hospital to have someone who really knows what they're doing. At the Wine-Price building he gets an
Epidural Transforaminal Lumbar (Injection). Basically a shot (needle, not a gun) in the back. In the IV, besides putting anesthetics, they also have to put a type of Benadryl/antihistamines because he is allergic to x-ray contrast (dye). This procedure is only a temporary fix, and he's had it a few times already. He has 3
herniated discs in the lower Lumbar that are pinching the nerves to the left leg. Dad recently got his blue handicap placard and has been walking with a cane for a while now. So far the Hospital is the only place I've seen where all the handicap spots are taken. If it's something like that I'll let him out at the entrance and I'll go park the car.
We tried to visit Jeff at Home Depot, but he was training in the back so I didn't see him. He's in NC this week. :( Mom met him, but Dad hasn't yet... keyword is yet. He's my
loveable droll geek. <3
I also tried to see if my DS would work at Panera Bread but I couldn’t get it to connect to the WIFI with Mario Kart or Tetris.
Thursday night I went out with Dan to
Queen City Brewing. They have this gimmick called Rhythm and Brews (we went to Brewgrass before).. Here's what it is basically. They ID you, give you a small cup and you can try 3 different beers or wine for free while they have a band playing music. I really love the look and feel of the Brewery. When that event ended we decided to go eat at the
Clocktower since it recently reopened and I had never been there before. I won't be going back there for the food, that's for sure. Ordering the Gingerale was probably the worst decision I made. You know, I always thought that bit about Coke and Sprite was a joke, but I'm certain that's what they gave me. Yuck. I talked with Dan at his place until 2AM. He showed me pictures of his son Matt, and I got to see what Dan looked like when he was younger. It was surprising. I also want his bed sheets, they were constellations. He has a nice place and a lot of it reminded me of my Grandfather's place.
Now I just need to stop sitting on my hands and write Matt like I said I would...
