Its been quite a bit since I posted anything here - the 2nd of October in fact!
Things have been busy in the good kind of way - keeping the artwork a-rollin' and managing my time better.
I've discovered new techniques that work for my plush-making, and I'm loving the gallery collective I'm a part of. We've been having a Christmas show all month long that will run till the 17th of January and my work has been selling pretty well there among the collective. I also did the Focus Fair (another local show) that went well too, so that should be my "con season" finished as it were. Now its a matter of scouting out new fairs and festivals and conventions as well as filling out forms and mailing in all manner of info for my favourite events as well. There is also another collective show in February so I have to get work rolling in for that too.
I keep having idle thoughts of my grant application - TA DA! that was my big "October deadline" that I was worried about. Turns out there is a Craft Grant aside from the other art grants that the government of Ontario gives. It focuses on people who work with their hands, and I chose to apply for a series of plush that I would love to be able to make - the deadline of said grant was October 15 ~ my birthday no less! Guess who's 29 now? THIS CHICK - so now its a matter of waiting till February to hear if I got the grant or not. Thing is? Even if I don't get the grant I'm still going to go ahead with my idea, just not to the scale that I had hoped it could be. This is the first time I've ever applied for a grant which is such a huge HUGE thing, but I figure why not give myself a shot? What have I got to lose? A rejection letter? Plus if I don't get the grant, I can actually call them and ask why and what I can do to improve my chances for next time.
It's been pretty excellent trying out new things and getting myself in a more productive swing. I had a great talk with a friend of mine that really helped to put things in perspective and was the kick in the ass I needed. And lets face it: sometimes we all need a healthy kick in the ass to see things that were right in front of us all along.
Now its a matter of hopping in the shower so I can get my hair re-dyed purple with my husband's help when he gets home from work and play more lego Lord of the Rings. He wore his chainmaille to work today because "its the end of the world ;)" and one of our friends wore his as well XD wonderful opportunity to be random and awesome. Since it was snowing Kevin walked to work with his full maille on up hill XD such a tropper!
Now to shower, figuring out what to bake next, custom vinyl toy painting, getting more custom glass etching done and some rat time in!
Hope all are doing awesome! Even though I haven't been the most active poster as of late, I do still read my LJ friend entries!
