This is a resurrection topic. I will be updating as time permits in the coming weeks & months. I will try to make this a thread of updates, lessons learned & success’s along the way.
Suffice it to say that it has become well established that the 2 times I had carbon monoxide poisoning as an employee Driver-Trainer for GTS that this area of my memory banks was a casualty. Relearning Linux over the last 11 years has been difficult at best.
So I have this list of projects for this topic/post:
1st ATX case) will be a desktop PC with a stand alone Linux OS that I want to both *see* the web and all other stuff in the Intranet as well as - most importantly - all in house PC’s to see and access files on this Linux box.
2nd ATX case) this will be the goal of a NAS / Server tower
3rd) the decidedly old rack mounted server in the attic will become the firewall as it has two RJ45’s on the MB
4th thru _?_) these are currently functional PC’s with either windows variants or win/Linux dual boots that I had created between 2012 & 2019 if I recall correctly.
Pictures for reference as the “starting point.”
This is the ATX case for NAS/server duty as the Linux box
This will be the Linux box desktop
This is the rack mount. The old server I want to use as the firewall is there with the laptop DVD-rom plugged into it & the trusty modem is that little white unit on top.
This is a functional dual boot desktop
The dual boot evil vista box.
That’s an old trusty dual boot XPpro dual boot, two retail NAS units & the router is sitting on a laptop cooler.
