Civil Partnerships

I think you've presented a great idea here, and one that I've thought of for some time. Forget about civil UNIONS; create civil PARTNERSHIPS. No law says that a business has to be profitable, produce anything or even conduct business. Gay and Lesbian couples, it would seem, could easily accomplish most the things they want by forming business partnerships or even two stock holder corporations. For a filing fee that would probably be similar to the filing fees for a civil union, these couples could form "businesses." This would allow the couple to buy property together in the business' name and even buy insurance on the executive officers: the couple in question. Legally, a marriage is very similar to a business partnership. The only real inconvenience this would cause would be having to file your taxes differently: just like being married.
If a system doesn't want to create the rules you would like, use the ones that exist. There are more than enough loopholes out there to accomplish part of what you want. If nothing else it's a start. Good luck everyone!
