Poem -- Desiring Your Forgiveness

Feb 08, 2012 20:43

I loved you
And left you --
At least that's what you said.
I didn't try to change your mind.
I flew into a fury,
Fire raging in my hair.
My fingers danced in agitation,
Wanting to ring your stout neck.
Maybe I made a mistake,
Maybe I'm too quick to burn
People surround us in a frozen circle,
Glaring, forming coarse opinions.
Crass mumblings send me astray.
My eyes have cried too much to say
The truth that slowly went away,
Replaced by unruly rumors.
Still I carry on my quest,
Finding peace to erase the unrest.
I forgive you
And hope for your forgiveness.
Nothing would make me
More joyous, more revived.
So, sweet one,
Bring me back into your heart!
For though we part ways
No hostility would remain.
