Notes/Warning: As a thank you present, I wrote a ficlet to two people for helping me figure out what episode a scene was from. caithream got this one. PS: I made this shit up on the spot. I think it shows?
It's on the way back to Bobby's when Sam suddenly sucks in a breath. He shifts around like his ass itches or something and Dean's about to make a comment (a rude one, probably. After all, Dean can't be back to being Dean without being a snarky son of a bitch) when Sam sticks his hand into his back pocket.
He pulls something out and it's Dean's turn to gasp this time. Face up in Sam's hand is his amulet, shining against the light of a passing street lamp.
"Sammy," he breathes, reverent.
Sam shrugs. "Figured this would happen." He offers Dean a short, but real grin.
You had that much faith in me, huh? Dean smiles sadly and reaches out, lifting the necklace from his hand. He stares at it for a moment or two, shooting glances towards the road to make sure he doesn't wander off the road, then he smiles a little bit warmer and slips it around his neck, the amulet thumping against his heart when he does.
"Thank you, Sammy," he tells Sam quietly.
The whole looks just a bit brighter to Dean now.
