Mitosis, blood, friends, and MCR on V-Day

Heh, V-Day isn't complete without a secret admirer. Thankyou to whoever gave me the "MCR" rose on my profile. It made me smile.

Today, Mel and I donated blood. The nurses were awesome and the whole thing was a good, positive experience. We can donate about every 2 months. I think I'd like to make it a point to do it that often.

I also hung out with Maggie and Jen B. from work for a few hours at Starbucks. We chatted about mundane - and relatively girly - things. It was fabulous.

Our lab was all about mitosis today and we were looking at the growing cell number in the tips of onion roots. I found two out of the five phases before anyone else. Whoever found a each stage first received extra credit. I found the prophase and the telophase on my sample. I'm a huge nerd about this crap, but it was awesome to find the cells and get confirmation from Sterling or his aide.

They now make Stephen Colbert ice cream. I need to get me some...
