Agro

I finally got around to finishing Shadow of the Colossus.

Wow. What a neat ending. I think if I had played ICO already, it would've made the ending even cooler. So, I killed the last Collosus and just as the black veins attack me for the sixteenth time, a group of horsemen arrive inside the temple where all the Colossus statues stood. The shaman of the group is in shock over the destruction of the statues, only because he knows what it means. My character appears, surrounded by the black figures, just as always. Only this time, the men are there and the young man is possessed looking. His eyes glow turquoise and he has small horns growing from the sides of his head. The shaman instructs the men to shoot him. He collapses under the arrows, but then his body changes. It becomes evident that the heavenly voice was actually the voice of Darmin, an evil demon and this entire game was spent doing his will. Each statue represented a sealed part of Darmin and by destroying them, Darmin was ressurected. The young warrior morphs into a giant black creature (the size of a collossus but shadowy and with horns) and you gain momentary control of it, able to attack the horsemen if you wish. On horseback, the group flees, needing to seal the now demonized young man inside the temple. (Mind you, the girl is still dead on the altar.) They succeed in escaping and the shaman throws your warriors sword into a pool of water inside the temple. This turns the water into something magical and suddenly extreme winds are whipping all around. The demonized creature is pulled towards it and the closer it gets, the more it is stripped away. It becomes smaller and smaller, until you see the warrior again. Again, you gain control, but there is no fighting the winds as they suck him into the pool. He is pulled under.

After several long moments of "omg. I played the whole game and I lost everything??" the girl opens her eyes! The quest was not completely in vain! She sits up, a little confused and who should come limping up the stairs to greet her? Agro, my horse! Poor thing has a busted leg, but he and the girl manage to enter further into the temple. They come upon the same pool, only now it's shallow and empty, save for a small baby with horns growing out of his head. She scoops up the child and carries him up high into the temple with Agro. There they find a beautiful sanctuary where they stay. The End.

I definitely liked this game. I'm glad I own it, but now I really want to play Ico.
