PULA, Croatia, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- A Croatian Roman Catholic priest who fronts his own heavy metal band says his fellow clerics are overreacting to U.S. shock rocker Marilyn Manson.
Manson is touring Europe and scheduled to perform in Pula next week. Catholics and other religious groups have been trying to get the show canceled there, the BBC reported Wednesday.
Anton Bobas, a priest and lead singer for Messengers of Hope, told the newspaper Vjesnik most of Manson's critics had never seen him perform and he went on to say Manson's show in Hamburg three years ago was his favorite concert ever.
The seven priests have offered to pay organizers if they cancel the concert while other religious groups want Manson to be banned from Croatia, the BBC said.
Bobas, however, said seeing Manson in action was unlikely to "turn young people into satanists."
