I am posting this against my better judgement.
1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.
2. Turn on your music player and put it on random/shuffle.
3. Write a drabble related to each song that plays. You only have the time frame of the song to finish the drabble; you start when the song starts, and stop when it's over. No lingering afterwards!
4. Do ten of these, then post them.
1. When I Grow Up - Pussycat Dolls (this is England, btw)
When he was young, everyone trod on him. He was squashed beneath so many boots he lost count.
It shaped him.
It gave him his drive, his desire. His ruthlessness.
He spent nights curled beneath a tree, shivering and dreaming of a world where he could wreak his revenge. Where he could do the treading. Everyone would know his name when he grew up and they would tremble at it.
I was going to be wonderful.
2. Look Through Any Window - The Hollies
Spain enjoyed fine days such as this. It was just well because he had many of them; sunny and long and fine. He liked to take a stroll through the marketplace and greet his people. He liked to watch the trader drive their carts by and wave to them.
The children played around his feet, using him as an obstacle in their game of tag.
He strolled on.
It was a lovely day.
3. Jeremy Clarkson Beatbox - Swede Mason
Prussia was not a nation much interested in the fine arts.
He could look at a painting and see the skill behind it. He could listen to a musical piece and hear how hard it must be to play. He could watch a dance and see the work that had gone into it.
His love, however, was for fighting. It rose above all of 'higher' arts. The lines of regimental colours held far more beauty than any paint. The clang of metal and shouts of guns better than any minuet. There was nothing more beautiful than an enemy on his knees.
4. What Did I Ever Give You? - The Kaiser Chiefs
England, as was his habit, associated alcohol with fun and escapism. Sometimes, however, it didn't work like that.
Sometimes he drank to drown his woes, but only ended up inflating them. All he could think of was all the terrible things he'd done, all the people whose lives were worse because of him and only him. He wallowed and dwelled and entirely deserved his brothers' eyerolls.
5. Return to Innocence - Enigma
It was such a surprise when they realise that they'd succeeded, that none of them could believe it had really happened. A few hours later it started to sink in, but still they struggled to really believed it.
England got down on his knees and kissed the green, green grass. France immediately drank the fine wine he'd been saving for his final moments. The Italies cooked up a great feast. Everyone ate and talked and laughed and cried. Just because they could. They were alive.
6. Boys of Bedlam - Steeleye Span
France had never been very comfortable with England's invisible friends. It was a strange thing for a fellow to stare off into the distance and laugh at nothing. It was stranger still for that fellow to look at you as though you are the strange one when you poke fun at him.
All in all, England had the distinct air of someone who was touched. It was unsettling to say the least. Moreso that England still managed to thwart him in so many of his plans, despite the malady in his mind.
And if France ever saw a flash in the corner of his eye or heard the tinkle of bells on the wind, why, he'd spent too long with England, plainly.
7. Bonkers - Dizzee Rascal
Sam wasn't stupid. He'd seen the looks people gave him. The people who knew him. The ones who thought they knew him
The were worried, trying to suss him out, trying to work out what it was about him.
There was something wrong, something very wrong with him.
On the other hand, life had never been so easy to live. The only things between him and what he wanted were entirely disposable. He didn't care how much blood he had to spill to get it.
8. Love Is a Stranger - Eurythmics
James Norrington was, to all intents and purposes, an upstanding gentleman. If there was anything negative to say about him, it was that he was too absorbed in his work. He was practically married to his duty and to his country.
In slightly less polite terms, he was obsessed with chasing down pirates.
It was one in particular that caused him to lose sleep for various reasons. Sparrow: the one who got away.
9. A Bad Dream - Keane
Dean was really tired of hunting. But he didn't know anything else. It was terribly sad but gosh, I am rather bored of Dean and his Issues by now. It's a pity I can't think of anyone else for this song.
10. Ringa Ringa - A.R. Rahman
Most cities were, at their heart, quite similar, Captain Jack Sparrow found. Most port cities that was; he didn't have much of an acquaintance with any other kind. There was always a part with some respectable veneer and then the rest of it, with twisting and turning alleyways that were far truer to human nature.
No, cities were all the same. It was the people that made the difference.
With their bright clothes, bright eyes and even brighter jewels, it was almost a pity that the Pearl already had his heart.
I'VE BEEN ON A SLIGHTLY RANDOM POTC FANFICTION BINGE RECENTLY.
