Yesterday, me and Justin decided to go to the Shedd Aquarium because it was free this week. Unfortunately, there was a freaking monsoon yesterday. We went outside to catch the bus and were soaked in like 10 seconds, even with umbrellas.
My phone was in my purse, but my purse isn't waterproof so the phone got a little wet. Then it stopped working.
When we got to the aquarium we had to wait in line for almost two hours because there were so many people. It wasn't too much fun standing around in wet clothes and shoes. My clothes dried out eventually, but not my shoes.
After we finally got in, there were a bunch of things, like the dolphins, that you couldn't see without paying extra. Lame.
But we saw some cool fishes, anyway. I liked the seahorses, they look so cool. I also liked the otter - so adorable! He was so cute, he had a bucket full of ice with fish it in, and he was pawing through in looking for more fish, and eventually he was just like "fuck it!" and turned the bucket over and dumped out all the ice to look for fish.
There was also an owl, who was cute.
After we left the Shedd we got pizza.
Later that night we met up with Emily and Molly at the Hideout to see some bands play. That was pretty fun.
This afternoon I went to the chicago-sf.org book discussion at the Oak Park library. This month we read Cyberabad Days by Ian McDonald. I liked it.
After the discussion we went to the Maple Tree cafe. I am usually pleased with their food, but this time it was kind of disappointing. I got "New Orleans Style" french toast which was slightly burned and seemed to be cemented to the plate it was served on. I also got some sausage which could have been warmer.
