Well, the official costume decision has been made for Halloween 2009! Looks like the roommates and I are going to be............

I'm so excited for this! I even uploaded my Halloween icon a month early. I get to be Winnie. lauresque is going to be Mary and freakstop is going to be Sarah. YAY! I'm glad we're doing a trio again.
I've been thinking about how to pull this off, since Winnie's costume is quite elaborate. Reference pictures:
I like to keep things simple, so right now the plan is to use this dress as a base, which is available on lots of costume sites:
From there, I think I'll just alter what I can. I have to physically possess the dress to see what I can do, but I might try to lengthen the sleeves and build a collar. I also plan on buying some gold appliques or some gold fabric paint to add the little gold designs all over it, and figure out a way to make the gold buckle.
I also want to get a good red wig that is similar in style and these tights (from welovecolors.com):
It's not going to be perfect (by far), but I think if I can manage to snag that dress as a base, it might turn out to be pretty cool. I'll probably make a crinoline to go underneath it to make the bottom more poofy, too.
YAY, DRESSING UP! I'm jealous of those of you going to Dragon*Con because you get to dress up before Halloween!
