I survived.

So, I made it through my first day of my summer camp job. I barely slept at all last night due to nerves, and almost puked this morning because of the same. I always make myself so nervous about these things.

All in all, it went okay. There weren't any major issues, I like the people I work with (though the majority of them were born after 1990!), and we have lots of cute kids. But SO many young ones - 3-4 years. It's hard to program things for kids of such an age range (3-9), because the skill level is definitely an issue.

We have one girl and one boy who don't speak any English, though the boy has a sister that stays to act a translator. Communication with the girl is hard. She seemed fine all afternoon and then JUST before her parents came, she freaked out and started crying. I manged to understand that she wanted her mom, but that's it. (I think she speaks Mandarin at home.)

There's a few trouble makers, of course, but that is to be expected. Actually, one of the boys is just really RANDOM, though he barely listens. What I do like is that we're allowed to put on a movie (Disney!) over lunch (12pm-1pm) and after camp is over until the parents come (4pm-5pm), so we at least have two hours that are pretty chill. I also get to leave at 4pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, so that's nice.

I terribly miscalculated how hard a craft I'd wanted to do would be, so there was a lot of frantic paper-cutting during lunch on my part. But we got through it.

I'm also the admin. person for the site, so I have to organize the paperwork, which kills about 30 minutes.

I'm wondering which kid will be the first to say my name. I always wonder how long it will take kids to understand how my name is said, even though it's on my shirt all day.

I am so horribly tired, so I think I'm just going to lounge around and watch The X-Files, make my lunch for tomorrow and then go to bed. Sounds like a sweet plan to me.
