Kuroshitsuji episode 1

Fu~! I’ve heard that this anime is good so I’m giving it a try. Kuroshitsuji is an anime about Ciel Pantomhive, the head of the Panthomhive family (even though he’s still a kid), and his butler, Sebastian.

The first episode opens with a scene where Ciel floating in the air surrounded by darkness. He was talking to someone about a “contract”. The unseen person kept talking to him. Ciel hurried him to make the contract.

Sebastian is shown as a capable and reliable butler, a contrast to the Panthomhive family’s servants. Bard, the chef, burnt the dinner because he was making it with his flamethrower. Maylene, the maid, is clumsy, running in the hall and trip occasionally. Finnian, the gardener, is as unreliable as Bard and Maylene. Tanaka, the oldest servant, was only seen drinking tea. But Sebastian didn’t scold him as he did to Bard, Maylene, and Finnian and seemed to respect him (maybe because he’s older?).

Ciel had to welcome a guest, an Italian that runs one of Panthomhive’s toy company. He was asking for extra fund. But, he secretly sold the company and intended to use the extra fund for himself. At the end of the day, he saw ghosts from a painting. He got scared and freaked out. He ran but he broke his legs from falling of the staircase. He became more agitated and dragged himself with his hands. Then he met Sebastian and he got scared. Sebastian said that the hospitality wasn’t over yet so he should stay with a smile on his face. But he tried to get away from Sebastian and hid in what he thought as a small cupboard. Sebastian found him and said that the guest was impatient to wait for the dessert that he tried to get it while it was still in the oven. Oh yes, he was in an oven. He screamed for help but Sebastian ignored him. I thought that he left the guest die in the oven-that’ll be so cool and scary at the same time-but the next scene showed the guest crawling out of the Panthomhive mansion with looking like a burnt chicken. Ciel looked at him from the window and chuckled, saying that the guest was a fool for thinking that he could deceive him.

After watching this episode I’m going to stick to it. I like the characters here. There’s a lot of mystery await to be solved, about the contract, why Ciel became the head of Panthomhive family in such a young age, where his family are, and his relationship with Sebastian……
