Heres what i'm tired of-

This "formula" used for writing songs.

the song abruptly starts at ~180 beats a minute.
It starts off with a guitar riff that doesn't get stuck in your head. Loud as shit.
Screaming ensues.

Rinse and repeat.

Now that i think about it, I don't like screaming. It can be ok, but the problem is most of the time the song is 90% screaming and 10% actual singing. Screaming is generally without pitch, thus it is without melody. that combined with the overcomplicated, loud as shit guitar riff leaves nothing audibly interesting for the listener. If you sing, there is melody, you might have to back the guitar off for balance, but hey, that might just be a treat. once again, a scream here and there is not a bad thing, it can be a great effect. look at it this way-

think of your favorite james bond movie-
now in that movie, think of the most spectacular explosion in it.
now imagine if that explosion went on for five minutes of the entire movie.
chances are you're gonna get tired of it. If you buy the dvd, you're gonna fast forward through it.

I'm finding it very hard to like anything anyone else is talking about because it's just a three minute long loud noise.

Food for thought.
