What does confer mean? I always thought it was coming together like conference. Is it something else?

it basically means "agree." do you remember that part in catch me if you can when he's a doctor and he's looking at the guy working under him and saying, "do you confer?"?

Oh yeah I remember that part, but I always thought he said concur. There's something else I always seem to remember with concur but I don't remember what it was from, something like, "do you concur? Yes I do concur, but do you concur, yes I concur" Or something really repititious and funny.
