Since losing my job in January I began looking for small ways to supplement my income in addition to the unemployment I was receiving. I discovered Glambot, a website where you can buy and sell gently used make-up, while researching online. Most of the reviews for the site were from the buyers point of view and were at least one year old. I decided to try selling to the site, thinking I could get rid of make-up I don't use and make some money in the process. I'm glad I tried it but was so disappointed with my Glambot selling experience that I wanted to share it somewhere so that others may take my point of view in consideration when deciding if they want to attempt this journey as well.
Glambot makes is easy to see what brands they will accept on their site. There is a nifty little video detailing how to sell and how to package your items. The site makes selling tempting by allowing the seller to request a free shipping label to send your unwanted goods in.
I sent a request for a shipping label and received an email stating I would receive my shipping label soon. In the meantime I received a coupon to buy products from Glambot. At this time I was more interested in selling than buying and ignored it. (To be honest the thought of buying used make-up is a little gross.) This was on March 24th.
I continued to receive emails from Glambot with discounts and coupons.
Finally, on May 3rd I received an email from Glambot stating they are accepting sellers and to request a shipping label. I did and a few days later I received a shipping label via email. As specified on the site I carefully packaged my 20 gently / barely used make-up items.
Today I received an email from Glambot with my "offer". Per Glambot rules they give two offers, one for cash and the other for store credit. My cash offer was for $38 and my store credit offer was for $46. Considering I had to give them 20 products that were in great condition I was definitely disappointed. I made my displeasure known in my response to the offer.
However, considering I need money and I wasn't using the make-up (plus you have to pay shipping to get the items back if you reject their offer) I did accept the cash offer.
I hope someone will read about my experience with Glambot and use it to make their own decision if selling to Glambot is worth it to them.
