[Ryu's riding a whelk through the Golden Plains, a flat stretch of land with very little cover. The sun is high overhead, and hot, but he doesn't seem to mind at all.]

[He dismounts, and pats the whelk on the tentacles, smiling.]

You should rest for a little bit. We can stop for right now.

[It's quiet... for now.]

[He wanders into the dream by accident, and blinks in surprise at the creature before him. He steps forward, perhaps a little warily, to take a closer look, and then he notices the other.]

Oh! Ryu, was it not? Hello again!

[unfadingdragon]

Hi Canas!

[He waves, and the whelk waves its tentacles at him, too.]

[scholastical]

[So he's more fascinated by the whelk than by the fact that he's in Ryu's dream.]

What is that creature, might I ask?

[unfadingdragon]

It's a whelk. I got him in Worent.

... Technically I'm only borrowing him, though.

[scholastical]

[He inspects it more closely.]

Would you mind, perhaps, telling me what you know of these...'whelks'?

[unfadingdragon]

Um... not much, actually. I know that people can ride them, but they don't normally, since they don't really like people. They're usually unfriendly and temperamental, but I think it likes me because I have the Dragon's Eye.

[scholastical]

The 'Dragon's Eye'?

[unfadingdragon]

[He points to his right eye.]

It's unusual to see someone with just one, but... they seem to be a sign that someone is a dragon. I can use it to control animals, and in one case I saw the future in a dream with it. It also lets me see faeries. I still don't know all the details, though.

[scholastical]

I see...

Perhaps you only have one because you are, as you said, merely half of a whole? It would stand to reason that your other half would possess the other.

[unfadingdragon]

That's probably right.

[scholastical]

Well, never fear, Ryu. I am certain we shall find a solution in time.

[unfadingdragon]

I'm not afraid. I know things will work out, in the end.

[scholastical]

[He smiles.]

Good. There is a solution to every problem, and I am certain we shall be able to find it.

[unfadingdragon]

Of course!

[scholastical]

[He edges closer to the whelk, inspecting it cautiously but with obvious excitement. And then he turns back to Ryu.]

Your world appears to be a fascinating place.

[unfadingdragon]

It is! I really like it... I miss my friends, though.

[The whelk waves its tentacles at Canas.]
