I honestly have no words besides several faint "O" noises. That was beautiful. That was beautiful and amazing and everything I've ever dreamed of and everything I hope canon can be like and Oh.
I am so bad with this review because this fic is so very very very good, especially the language and the writing style. It's just so elegant and painful-but-in-a-good-way, like the line His hair is splayed out on the pillow like a dead hand.
I love how you keep the situation vague; its so delicate, like Sasuke himself. The reader (or at least I did anyway) really connects with Naruto in this fic, because we're every bit as lost as he is.
Oh and Sakura, I love how you didn't ignore her, and I love the line like her old smile. Sakura, despite 3 years of development in strength and character, will revert back to her old undying adoration of Sasuke at the drop of a hat because he is Sasuke and it hurts. The imagery you create in that scene is beautiful as well, Sakura, bright and pink, and Naruto in subdued shades of orange.
When Sasuke says "Thank you" my heart just shattered into a million pieces and melted into a pile of goo all at once. They're the words that Naruto and all the readers have been waiting for in the canon since Sasuke leaves and it just happens.
Really, this fic is just all sorts of amazing and this is one of those fics I'm going to mistake for canon later on in my memory because it works so well with canon, and as a fic - so much more idealized and painful than what I imagine the canon would be like all at once.
