[It probably should have been a surprise, especially where he was inexplicably wearing a suit.]
Well, if it isn't dear Arturia. [That faintly mocking tone was probably even more foreign than the clothes. As was the faintly unbalanced look in his already gold eyes.]
[He laughed, a cold and harsh sound completely unlike Lancer.]
I am a Shadow. The true self. And you are Arturia Pendragon, a shining and resplendent example of a knight that a traitor like me could never hope to match up to.
What, you expect me to be able to escape something like that? I already tried, back in Fuyuki. I don't know if you noticed, but I failed miserably. Kayneth didn't trust me, and why should he have? I'm just a traitor famous for running away.
What must he have thought about the kind of Servant he summoned, I wonder~? I'm certainly not Rider, that's for certain. I'm sure everyone would have been better off had someone else been summoned as Lancer, don't you think?
I could have stolen Sola at any time. Essentially, that's exactly what I did just by allowing her to look at me.
I only did what was right while I was alive. I had no choice but to run away with Grainne. Fionn had the nerve to offer forgiveness, you know--then when I needed him the most he let me die just like Kayneth! I may have left with Grainne, but I never lied!
[His voice took on a mockingly sweet tone, clear smirk on his face.] You would have forgiven me, and done so honestly. You would have known I had no choice. If I had only been born in a different era and country, I could have been your knight instead of his.
I could have fought at the right hand of someone I loved and trusted.

Lancer, you've been quiet for too long. And hard to find.

Of course I'm quiet. I've always been quiet.

[That is indeed not quite right.]
