USF 31 - UCF 24

Sep 07, 2008 22:40

It was a sad night to be a knight.

Try our hardest, we let our one potential claim to fame slip from within our grasp. The UCF Knights fumbled the win against the USF Bulls, just barely losing grip mere seconds into overtime.

For this parabolic mic operator, it was set out to be a long, physically taxing night regardless. But oh how I would have loved to witness the Knights slaughter the Bulls. Of every other moment in my personal football fan history, this one easily takes the proverbial cake in being the most tense, invigorating experience EVER. Feeling like I wanted to cry, collapse in defeat, all the while dying to yell and jump in excitement. Especially when we scored those final two touchdowns. Holy. Shit. I was in as much shock as I believe most of the players watching from the sideline immediatley next to me were.

The seconds kept ticking...

But at the end of it all, I feel, in spirit, the Knights did not really lose this epic game. Anticipating to be crushed again as last year, I would say we made a near fatal wound in USF's flank. And even somehow as I had to reluctantly pass the celebratory USF fan section, I did not emotionally cripple. I did not want to cry or hang my head in agony. In all honesty, our team played their hearts out at Brighthouse Stadium last night. Granted, we did not win.

But, let's just say...there's more than one overwhelming reason as to why USF's head coach refuses to play UCF again in the years to come.
