eli and i are working on a zine about people's relationships with their chests! it focuses specifically on trans* experiences, but cisfolks are welcome to submit, too.

The Community Chest Project wants to hear about your relationship with your chest.
How do you define your chest? How do you identify? What words do you use to identify your chest, if any? How do you feel about your chest? Does your chest -- or the shape of your chest -- impact your identity? Has your relationship with your chest, or your chest itself, changed over your lifetime? Would you change your chest?
We are two trans masculine(-ish) folks working on putting together a zine about chests. For trans*, gender-variant, people with trans history, genderqueer, other-gender, and cisgender folks all, we think our chests can be one of the most complex sites on the body, both culturally and individually.
Who can submit?
People of all gender identities and gender expressions may submit. If it's about your chest, we want to read/see/hear it!
We are especially interested in hearing from transfeminine/mtf folks because we think the majority of conversations about trans folk and the concept of chests centers around the transmasculine/ftm experience. We want to create space for and amplify the voices of a variety of trans experiences.
We are also interested in hearing from survivors of breast/chest cancer and other forms of illness whose relationships with their chests have been impacted by this experience.
Cisgender folks are also welcome to submit, though we will likely accept fewer pieces from cis folks because we are looking to focus primarily on the trans* community.
What kind of submissions are you looking for?As for subject matter, as long as your piece represents your relationship to or your chest itself, that is what we want to hear. It is okay to talk about sex, sexual encounters, kinky business, bodies, trauma, etc.
We welcome ANY form of creative expression: poetry, erotic pieces, photography, digital or print art (i.e., collage, painting, drawing, et al), non-fiction, fiction, found poems etc. We request that the work you're submitting be your original piece unless otherwise specified and with that person's express permission.
How long can my submission be?Please limit prose/poetry submissions to less than or equal to 15 pages and digital/print art to less than or equal to 5 MB. If you have submissions longer or larger than this, please e-mail us about it before submitting. Please submit a maximum of three pieces total in any genres.
How can I submit?
Please submit your work as an e-mail attachment to communitychestproject@gmail.com by April 1, 2010. Include the name you'd like to be referred to in print and the genre(s) and title(s) of the work(s) you're submitting.
Please send text submissions as *.doc or *.rtf files, and digital art submissions or digital copies of print art submissions as *.jpg, *.gif, or *.png file. If you have your work in another format and are unsure how to get it to us in one of the above-specified formats, please e-mail us and we'll try to help.
