✪ Fourth Star: Shroomfield ✈

[That morning started out like any other. Wake up, brush teeth, comb hair into a fabulous 'do', and head down for breakfast. Black coffee and maybe some pancakes?

Like always, Alfred's drone wife would follow the request without question, except today she decided to add in an extra ingredient. After all, when wild mushrooms popped up, of course ( Read more... )

!action, crazy shit, good god why. . .

[Lithuania's been a bit reluctant to go outside today--half the time people see someone else in his place, and half the time he doesn't seem to be able to help at all. But still he ended up outside, attempting to talk sense into people. And now America's washing his hands in the fountain, so what else can he do but try to calm the younger nation down? He approaches uncertainly.]

America? America, are you okay?

[This is the dumbest question in the world, of course.]

[looks towards him, his eyes just looking so, so sad. Like a kicked puppy]

Lithuania. . .

How. . .how bad is it?

[Lithuania eases himself down next to America. His tone is very gentle; he's afraid of making things worse, but not so afraid that he won't try at all.]

Whatever you're seeing isn't real. I'm fine.

I really can't believe it. . . Yeah, that's for sure.

[picks up a flower which looks like a scorched girl's doll or something to him, just staring down at it]

[Lithuania's unsure of what to say--he wants to ask America what he's seeing, exactly, but he doesn't really want to make America actually say what it is.]

Mayfield's done something. Whatever's going on...

[He's surprised it hasn't effected him, actually.]

[furrows his brow]

Mayfield. . ?

Remember Mayfield? That's where you are right now. You woke up in a strange house and everything looked as if it were the 1950s?

[he isn't sure what the city in front of him looks like. None of the defining buildings are left standing. But it seems to give off a feel more like modern-day D.C. or Tokyo or something. Though when he mentions Mayfield, he closes his eyes and rubs his temple, trying to remember.

What was he doing just that morning?

This morning he woke up. . . the bed he was in wasn't his. . .

. . .That smiling woman who gave him his coffee and breakfast. Secretary? No, he hadn't gone to the White House to meet with the president. It was someone else. . ]

Mayfield. .right. . I was at. . Mayfield.

[struggling through his thoughts]

So . . the world hasn't ended?

[Is that what he's seeing? Well, it's understandable, if everyone is hallucinating terrible things.]

The world hasn't ended. Everything's the same as it was when you were there last.

[He reached out to touch America's shoulder lightly.]

You're hallucinating--a lot of people in Mayfield are.

[Emphasizing the "Mayfield" thing to try and bring America back to reality.]

Mayfield. . .

[Even if he won't see anything differently, he trusts Lithuania wouldn't lie to him. And so tries to give the benefit of the doubt while clawing through his thoughts to back it up with facts he knew to be true.]

Hallucinate--

[well, this town WAS cited to mess with people's heads]

This. . this isn't real? None of it?

No. You're just seeing things. It won't last forever, Mayfield always stops after a while.

. . . [He exhales a huge sigh of relief but then, maybe for a second, has a look of indignation cross his face. You couldn't blame him for feeling negatively towards a town that'd pull such a horrible trick. He was confident before that he could take whatever the town gave him, but he never imagined it'd really tear at one's heartstrings like this.

Well, now he knew!]

Geez. . .

[picks up a rock which he thinks is debris, but he just tosses it a distance away with a huff]

How long will it take?

I'm not sure. Usually it doesn't last more than a few days...
