[Goldberg Street/Action]
[Having finally gotten his flagpole up, Alfred immediately got a flag and set it up. And not a day too soon for today was Veterans' Day! And of course he would celebrate it. He didn't know if this town would hold parades or anything--he really highly doubted it-- but it didn't mean he couldn't celebrate himself

(You can nearly hear Engie shaking his head in disappointment at himself.)
I'll bring some Texan chili over. S'that ok with ya Al?
Reply
Engiiiiiiiiiiiiie how could you!
Yeah! Chili would be great!

(And true enough, thirty minutes or so later, Engie shows up with a big pot full of delicious chili.)
Hey there Al, Happy Veteran's Day to ya.
Reply
YO! Engie! Happy Veterans' Day to you, too!
[finishes dressing some hotdogs before heading over]
Mmmm! That smells great! Personal recipe?

(Engie chuckles as he brings the pot inside.)
Where should I put it?
Reply
Anywhere there is fine!
Can I get ya something to drink? A burger maybe?

(He places the chili there carefully. You can ALWAYS have space for chili.)
Gotta admit, it's rare ta see kids in your generation taking Veteran's Day seriously. Makes me feel ashamed of m'self for nearly forgettin'. Good on ya though, Al. Sometimes I feel that people just don't appreciate the folks who work ta protect our country an' her people from danger. It's mighty sad.

By way of beverages we got beer, rootbeer, cola. . .
[chuckles for more than one reason although one is probably unknown to Engie. That being his reference to America as a girl.
Hee if only he knew!]
Yeah, but at least there's still a reminder on the calendar!
Although, when you think about it, the world is full of unsung heroes, you know? So many people have done so much for the world, yet some are never even thought about or thanked for their efforts.
But I hope I can help remind people like on days like today! It's the least I can do!

(He accepts the burger and smiles at Al.)
Thanks.
(Hey, there's always Nyotalia. But yeah, big mind explosion ahead when Engie finds out the truth.)
That's real thoughtful of ya Al. My grandpa died in the first great war actually. Went off to fight for his country. My mama and I always went to his grave on Veteran's Day, just ta remember him for what he did and died for. Gotta admire that in a man.

[lightly tosses a bottle of rootbeer towards him before taking one for himself and sitting down]
Cheers. [uncaps his then holds it up to clink with Engie's; takes a gulp right after and nods]
Yeah, I hear ya. Especially those that willingly sign up despite how dangerous things could be or how far away from home they could be shipped out.

. . .all those telegrams that had to be sent to those homes. . .he knows how families always feel when they see them but reality was reality and not everyone got to come home. . .]

To the soldiers.
(He takes a sip of the beverage, before he asks Al a question:)
So Al, do ya have any family in the army then?

Hey, Engie! If I told you something totally unbelievable, but it was real yet just didn't sound real, you'd believe me, right?
