I've been meaning to do this for a week....

Jan 06, 2012 20:11

I was inspired at the beginning of last year by partitioning to challenge myself to watch 100 films in 2011. It seemed like a lofty aspiration, but really it wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. Of course, I had Stormageddon 2011 to thank for quite a few of these. Cause when you're snowed in for four days straight, what else are you gonna do? I know I'm certain to have missed a few, but what can I say? A year is a long time!! So I ended the year with 108 films and I thought I'd make you a poster picspam to celebrate! Plus a short little Top 5 lists.

TOP 5 FAVORITE FILMS
Warrior--While I'm not a huge fan of fight movies this is so much more than that. The family drama that's at the heart of it all is so heart wrenching. Nick Nolte was amazing and, well, we all know how a feel about Tom Hardy.
50/50--Yes, I know what you're saying, Of course, JGL would end up on Amanda's favorite list!, but don't judge me so quickly my friends! Yes, JGL is awesome. Yes, my adoration is legendary in some circles. All that aside, this was a great film. I laughed. I cried. I laughed some more. As someone who has been through the cancer treatment of a loved one and got through it with inappropriate humour, I really appreciated everything about this film.
Easy A--Ok, it's a comedy. It's a teen comedy. But seriously, I'd watch this movie over and over. And it made me really wish Stanely Tucci and Patricia Clarkson were my parents. SOOOO BAD!
Jane Eyre--I'm such a sucker for Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre. It's one of my all time favorites and IMO it far superior to her sister's Wuthering Heights and is all too often over shadowed by it. I've seen every adaptation of Jane Eyre and I have to say I think this is definitely one of the best. I was skeptical when Mia Wasikowska was cast as Jane, but she won me over.
True Grit--First off, I'm not a John Wayne fan and I have not seen the original. That being said I wasn't prepared to like this film as much as I did. I knew it would be well done and I knew Jeff Bridges would be captivating, but Matt Damon and Hailee Steinfeld took me by surprise and the overall melancholic tone of the film was something that stayed with me for awhile after seeing it.

TOP 5 LEAST FAVORITE FILMS
Eat Pray Love--I started out my year with this one. Thank God it didn't set the tone for things. I can't even... how is it possible that this movie was so awful. Of course, it's just my opinion, but I couldn't even sit through it in one viewing. I turned it off and came back to it the next day. AND I DON'T DO THAT GUYS!
Women is Trouble/Electra Luxx--I'm putting these together because Electra Luxx is the sequal to Women in Trouble and really they're the same ridiculous thing over and over. I'm sure this was meant to be ironic or something but.... no. Just.. no. Even my love for JGL couldn't save these.
Delirious--Again, actors I really like couldn't save this.
The Addiction--I cannot express to you how awful this was. Run from this guys. Run! Run quickly the other way as fast as possible!!

So that was my year in film.

**In case you were courious I'm challenging myself to 150 films in 2012!**

Hey guys! Anything I missed that I just must see?! What were your favorite/least favorite films this year?
